The inspiration was a picture I tore out of my Time magazine last year, from an article on the Bauhaus exhibit at MOMA.

It's a glass piece from Josef Albers. I tried sketching my own interpretations of the design, but as it turns out, I'm not a famous Bauhaus artist and none of my versions were nearly as cool. so I did a pretty literal take.
I chose a blue as the accent color, using my big Kona color card.

the back design is my own. it's not quite what I had in mind when I started, but it's close.

I debated about what color to quilt it with as I didn't want to mess up the color blocking of the design. After consultation with my mom, I decided to use invisible thread on the front and black in the bobbin, in a parallel line pattern.

Inspired by a deadline (the wedding!), I also managed to put it all together in four days. Finishing it in time is good motivation to tackle some of my other works in progress and try to finish them up.

wow - I cannot believe how amazing this quilt is...that back is just..wow...so incredible and I LOVE the front.
I love the back. While the front is great, it's so nice to get to cut loose, using an inspiration and just going for it.
I usually lurk, but I have to comment on this one. The front is so awesome, but the back....AMAZING!
And in 4 days?!?!?
wow, incredible. 4 days? incredible. best wishes for your sister and her wedded bliss.
I love the front, but the back is equally fabulous!
Artistic. Just like the new couple. Love it.
very very nice. Bauhaus is an inspiration to us all!
this is amazing!! as a new architecture student and former quilter (since I no longer have time at the moment), this is the perfect mix of both. Seriously I LOVE IT.
That translated so nicely to your quilt. It looks great!
this is amazing! I think I like the overall design even better in the blue you chose!
Your quilt is beautiful. I would never be able to do that in only 4 days.
