plain spoken quilt, second time around

Today I finished the quilt I plan to take to this year's family Christmas gift swap.

It's the Plain Spoken quilt from the Modern Quilt Workshop book. I made the pattern once before - it was actually the first large quilt I had ever made (over five years ago?!). This one is made entirely out of fabric from the stash. (We were supposed to spend $20 on the gift - I wonder if this means I should throw in something else with it?)

I thought I was going to finish in time to photograph it in the sunlight, but no dice.

the back is loosely inspired by some Anni Albers designs. the strip on the bottom is because I ran out of fabric.

I quilted it in basically the only way I ever do, because it's about all I am really able to do:

Surprised you posted it before Christmas. Are you hoping to get stealing of presents going in the exchange?
Like the colors but I don't think it can compare with it's older sibling....which keeps me warm every evening :)
